Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 May 2026
Franscale Ltd ("Franscale", "we", "us", "our") is the data controller of personal data collected through this website (www.franscale.co.uk) and the data processor of personal data processed inside the Franscale CRM platform on behalf of our customers. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect that data.
We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. Who we are
Franscale Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales. For any questions about this policy or the data we hold about you, contact us at privacy@franscale.co.uk.
2. What we collect
From this website
- Contact form data — name, email address, company name, phone number (if provided), and the contents of your message, when you submit a contact, demo, or newsletter form.
- Newsletter subscriptions — email address only, with explicit opt-in.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referrer URL. Captured by our privacy-respecting analytics provider (no third-party cookies, no cross-site tracking).
From the Franscale CRM platform
When you use the Franscale CRM, you (as our customer) upload data about prospective and current franchisees. That data is processed by us on your behalf. You remain the data controller for that information; we are the processor. The relationship is governed by our Data Processing Agreement, which forms part of our terms of service.
3. Why we process this data — lawful basis
- Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries, provide demos, deliver our service, and run the business. We balance our interests against your rights.
- Contract — to provide and bill for the Franscale platform once you become a customer.
- Consent — for newsletter emails and any non-essential cookies, where you have actively opted in.
- Legal obligation — to keep records required by tax, accounting, or regulatory law.
4. How we share data
We share personal data only with carefully selected processors who help us run the service: our UK hosting provider, our email delivery service, our analytics provider, and our payment processor. Each is bound by a written processing agreement and is required to meet UK GDPR standards. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data to anyone, ever.
5. Where your data lives
All personal data collected through this website and processed by the Franscale platform is hosted in UK data centres. We do not transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and notify affected customers in advance.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiry and demo form data — up to 24 months from your last interaction, then deleted unless you become a customer.
- Customer account data — for the duration of your contract plus 7 years for accounting and audit purposes.
- Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs — 30 days, then automatically purged.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you (right of access).
- Correct any inaccurate data (right to rectification).
- Have your data deleted, where applicable (right to erasure).
- Restrict or object to processing.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the lawful basis.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@franscale.co.uk. We respond within 30 days, free of charge.
8. Cookies
This website uses only strictly-necessary cookies (for session and security). We use a privacy-respecting analytics provider that does not use cross-site tracking cookies. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social media trackers.
9. Security
We protect personal data using industry-standard measures: encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), role-based access controls, audit logging, regular security reviews, and least-privilege staff access. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable and proportionate steps and notify affected parties promptly in the event of a breach.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Material changes will be notified by email to active customers and newsletter subscribers.
